Get help here: Cultural Funding Consultation Program description Since 2009, the 16 federal states have provided their cultural foundation with funding for art and cultural-historical exhibitions of supra-regional importance. In order to take appropriate account of Germany's diverse cultural landscapes, support is given in particular to exhibition projects with a regional focus and international significance. The foundation of funded exhibitions should always be the museum's own collection. Institution Kulturstiftung der Länder On behalf of the 16 German Länder, the Kulturstiftung der Länder promotes, develops, advises and supports projects and initiatives in the fields of art and culture that are of national importance and are implemented in cooperation with several partners. The Kulturstiftung der Länder focuses on the social relevance of culture. It understands culture to be the totality of cultural forms of expression - tangible and intangible - that people produce in their encounters with their environment in order to express ideas and values and to determine their place in this world. Deadline Please note the new submission deadlines: June 15 or December 15. Funding period Funding that is not drawn down 30 months after the funding commitment has been issued expires. An application to extend the funding commitment must be submitted at least 8 weeks before it expires. Funding criteria Applications can be submitted by all publicly accessible German museums, libraries and archives. Funding is available for art and cultural-historical exhibitions of outstanding importance which are conceived by public institutions (museums, libraries, archives) and organized as temporary exhibitions; whose planned budget is generally at least 250,000 euros; which are based on the museum's own collections and incorporate these as the focus or core of the concept; which are thematically developed from phenomena, events, cultural regions, places or collections and are regionally anchored but internationally significant; are scientifically developed by the exhibiting institutions; are exemplary in their interdisciplinary development; which strive for a visitor- and target group-oriented presentation and communication; have a lasting effect in terms of the scientific results and the investments made. Additional conditions In principle, the initial installation or redesign of permanent exhibitions and exhibitions that take place exclusively abroad are not eligible for funding. Application type multi-stage application procedure Application procedure/documents Before submitting an application, a mandatory consultation must be held with the Kulturstiftung der Länder. It will also be discussed whether the project meets the criteria set out in the statutes of the Kulturstiftung der Länder. Please make an appointment for this at [email protected]. If you submit an application, you will receive access to FOKUS - the digital funding portal of the Kulturstiftung der Länder - after the meeting. The application and the entire processing of the exhibition funding - from the call for funds to the proof of use - are carried out via this online portal. Once the application has been submitted in full via the funding portal, the documents relating to your exhibition project will be evaluated internally and assessed by independent, external experts. The experts are selected by the Kulturstiftung der Länder. If the reviews are positive, the applications are submitted to the committees of the Kulturstiftung der Länder for a recommendation and then to the Foundation Council for a decision on approval. Jury/Decision-making body The bodies of the Kulturstiftung der Länder, the Board of Trustees and the Foundation Council, meet twice a year, in spring and fall. After a positive decision by the Board of Trustees or the Executive Board of the Kulturstiftung der Länder, you will receive a grant agreement with all further information, especially regarding communication.
