VOICES OF NATURE — 2nd Edition is a multidisciplinary residency hosted by Kaaysá Art Residency in Boiçucanga, within the Atlantic Forest region. Continuing from the 2024 edition, this program invites artists, researchers, and creators to develop poetic investigations in dialogue with the territory and natural environment. The residency includes mentorship, collective exchanges, and dialogues with invited curators and special guests including Indigenous leaders who will share ancestral knowledge and perspectives on climate, territory, and nature.

Open to visual artists, photographers, writers, painters, sculptors, dancers, performers, musicians, researchers, and other creators from Brazil and abroad working in visual arts, dance, performance, music, literature, audiovisual, sculpture, installation, photography, and performative practices.

The residency includes artistic mentorship, portfolio reviews with curators, studio visits, Atlantic Forest trails, ceramics workshops, visits to regional cultural spaces and fishermen's village, dialogues with invited curators (Lucas Bambozzi, Fernando Velasquez, Renato de Cara, Simon Watson) and a newly selected resident young curator, and workshops with local children. At the end, an open studio presentation will be held for the local community.

  • Studio: shared studio, carpentry workshop, pottery wheel, ceramic tools, sound recording studio with musical instruments, sewing machine, binoculars, drone
  • Video art studio, musical instruments, projectors, sound system, ceramic wheel, gym, malabarism tools
  • Dance studio, wood machinery tools (drill, hammer, saw, jigsaw)
  • Free internet, library, internal parking, community bicycles

The Open Kaaysá Program is available year-round with a minimum 15-day stay. Residents can come any time and stay as long as desired. Group residencies are also available—contact organizer for details on dance groups.

  • Collaboration fee: 1,800 Euro per month
  • All-inclusive: accommodation, meals, studio access, and program activities

Selected artists will have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition in São Paulo during the second semester of 2026 (venue to be defined).

Poetic investigations in dialogue with nature as a field of listening, creation, and reflection. The residency explores the relationship between body, territory, memory, and imagination, examining how artists can understand plants, rivers, seas, stones, and ecosystem elements as poetic subjects and interlocutors in response to climate and ecological transformations.
