Overview

Solas / Shadow is an online international photography gallery showcasing curated exhibitions exploring polarities of our lives and the world around us. Founded on the belief that powerful photography exists beyond traditional gatekeeping, the gallery is committed to supporting emerging and underrepresented photographers while remaining open to artists at all stages of their practice.

Theme: Focus/Expand

The exhibition explores the polarity between focusing on smaller details and expanding out to see the bigger picture. Ideas to explore include perception, scale, intimacy, distance, isolation, how we choose what to see, what we overlook, and how shifts in perspective alter our understanding of people, places, objects, ideas, and experiences. The theme also considers how focus and expansion relate to the contemporary world, personal narratives, identity, and local and global issues.

Eligibility

• Open to photographers worldwide
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Artists retain copyright to submitted works

How to submit

Submit up to 5 images in JPG format. Include your name and surname, location and/or nationality, social media and/or website links, a short biography (no more than a couple of sentences), and title of your images.

Fees

• Free to submit
• If selected to participate, participation fee applies: £16 for 1 image, £22 for 2 or more images

What you receive

• Work displayed in online gallery on website
• Digital certificate of participation
• Work featured on gallery's social media
• Work featured in digital Exhibition Catalogue
• All inquiries about purchase of work directed to photographer directly

Terms

By submitting, artists grant permission for the Gallery to use images to promote the exhibition, display on the Solas / Shadow webpage, include on social media, and use in advertising, promotional materials, and publications.
