Arts in the Middle Fine Arts Festival is an outdoor juried fine arts event held at Hewick Estate in Urbanna, Virginia. The festival features over 100 artists from across the country, live music, food, beverages, and family activities in a tree-shaded setting near a charming waterfront village.

  • Submission deadline: January 29, 2027
  • Event dates: June 5–6, 2027
  • Paintings: oils, acrylics, watercolor, encaustic, fresco, gouache, tempera, fluid media of inks and washes
  • Drawings: chalk, charcoal, pastel, pencil, conte, graphite, wax crayon
  • Jewelry: of any material (no commercial casts, kits, molds, or commercially made items)
  • Ceramics: original clay and porcelain work other than jewelry
  • Photography: archival photographic prints, limited editions of 250 or fewer, signed and numbered
  • Digital Art: original work with base image or manipulation executed by artist; limited editions of 250 or fewer
  • Printmaking: signed and numbered limited editions; printmakers must disclose process
  • Sculpture: clay, wood, metal, fiber, etc.
  • Wood: hand crafted furniture and wood turnings
  • Fiber/Leather: high-end hand crafted textiles, wearable art, and leather artwork
  • Glass: hand blown glass, leaded glass, fused, etc.
  • Mixed Media: non-sculpture work incorporating multiple materials or processes
  • Other: all other fine crafts and fine arts works
  • Minimum 4 images required to apply
  • Application fee plus late fee: $30

Artistic execution, creativity, and well-balanced presentation are criteria for selection. Exhibitors' art will be professionally judged during the show on Saturday, with awards presented at a catered Artist Reception at 5:30 PM Saturday (complimentary for artists and one guest).

Festival provides friendly team members and volunteers during show hours, including short breaks upon request. Complimentary coffee and home-made pastries Saturday and Sunday mornings. Water delivered to tents in the morning and afternoon both days. Artist and public parking is steps away from the entrance. Golf carts assist customers with special needs and large purchases.

Outstanding live music (blues, jazz, rock, classical) on two stages, hand crafted local food, craft beer, wine, and soft drinks. Children's activities include Jr. Judge ribbons and creative activities. First aid available in Welcome Tent. Security provided during all day Saturday/Sunday and overnight Saturday.
