Uberbau_house +Arquivo Residency [Research in Contemporary Art]

Overview

The Uberbau_house +Arquivo Residency is a space for reflection, debate, and documentation on contemporary art, and an opportunity for exchange with agents and organizations in São Paulo and across Latin America. It is open to artists, curators, art historians, art managers, art researchers, art teachers, sociologists, anthropologists, and other cultural agents and professionals in the social sciences.

Those who wish to conduct independent research, plan a production or career strategy, write a thesis in progress/essays/book, or deepen their knowledge of contemporary art.

Accommodation & Facilities

The residency is located in the Copan Building (designed by Oscar Niemeyer) in central São Paulo. The space accommodates up to 8 residents in shared rooms and includes a conference and lecture room, kitchen, dining area, and laundry facilities.

Program & Support

The pedagogical team consists of specialists in contemporary art with focus on Latin American art. Participants receive seminars on contemporary art, meetings to establish work objectives, guided visits to museums, galleries, and events in São Paulo, and mentorship from specialists and key agents in contemporary art. The residency concludes with a final public presentation (in-person and online) where participants share their research results.

Fees

• 18 days: USD $1,400
• 45 days: USD $2,900
• Includes shared-room accommodation with breakfast, access to common areas (kitchen, laundry, meeting room, living area), work plan, and guidance throughout the research process

Final Presentation

Each edition concludes with a public presentation where participants share the progress or results of their research process. This event takes place both in person and online, and presentations are recorded.
