About
Artists, curators, and cultural managers are invited to submit a portfolio with project explanation, proposed timeline, and techniques to participate in a printmaking residency in Barcelona.
Overview
La Maldita Estampa is a print studio and gallery in Barcelona created by artists to support other artists focused on printmaking. The residency welcomes international artists, curators, and cultural managers to learn or develop projects using traditional printing techniques in a fully equipped workshop and gallery space.
Facilities
The studio comprises 120 m² of fully equipped space with a 90 m² production area and a 30 m² gallery. Artists have access to all facilities and equipment for engraving, lithography, photoetching, and other techniques including direct techniques (burin, drypoint, mezzotint, etching), relief printing (linocut, woodcut), and indirect techniques (aquatint, lithography, screenprinting, cyanotype, and others).
Accommodation
Accommodation is not provided by the residency. The organization helps artists find comfortable, economical accommodation through their network of local artists and friends who host visiting residents.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide: artist's portfolio with brief project explanation (maximum 30 lines and 5 recent photographs in PDF format), proposed timetable with arrival and departure dates, and specification of techniques involved in the creative process.
Fees
The residency costs 350 euros per week. Artists must secure their own funding. Letters of invitation for grants or subsidies from institutions in the artist's home country are available upon request. Detailed pricing and information are provided by email upon inquiry.
Support
Artists receive permanent support and guidance for successful project development. The residency aims to provide resources, support, and conditions for optimal creative work in a productive and rewarding environment.
