Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery & Ascent Gallery

Overview

The Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery marks its 50th anniversary in 2026 with a series of curated and juried exhibitions celebrating visual art. The Main Gallery and Ascent Gallery (dedicated to emerging artists from diverse Toronto communities) offer free admission and public programming throughout the year.

• Ascent Gallery: 399 The West Mall (Lower Level – L1)
• Main Gallery hours: Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday and statutory holidays closed
• Ascent Gallery hours: Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday and statutory holidays closed
• Elevator access to Ascent Gallery: Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Canvas Chronicles (Federation of Canadian Artists Toronto): September 23 to October 21, Reception September 27 at 2 p.m.
• 74th Open Juried Exhibit (Colour and Form Society): October 28 to November 26, Reception November 1 at 2 p.m.
• New Vistas: December 2, 2026 to January 14, 2027, Reception December 5 at 2 p.m.

Ascent Gallery 2026 Exhibitions

• Temporal Disruption (Cassandra Cunningham): May 14 to July 30
• Ritual / Still Without Shelter (James Rose and Emmanuel Udeh): August 6 to October 29, Reception August 15 at 2 p.m.
• A Spore On Its Journey (Huan Chen): November 4, 2026 to January 28, 2027, Reception November 7 at 2 p.m.

Admission & Access

Free admission for all exhibitions. The gallery is wheelchair accessible via elevator.

Transit & Directions

• By Car: From Highway 401 or QEW, take Highway 427 to Burnhamthorpe Road West exit. Turn south onto The West Mall. Gallery is located at the southeast corner of Burnhamthorpe Road and The West Mall.
• By Transit: From Kipling subway station, take the West Mall 112 bus to Civic Centre Court. From Islington subway station, take the Burnhamthorpe 50 bus to The West Mall.
