Title & Description HILVANARIO — Residencia de Saberes y Oficios (Colombia, 2026): Call for Applications El Árbol del Magnolio has opened applications for HILVANARIO — Residencia de Saberes y Oficios, taking place from November 17 to December 4, 2026. Designed as a 3-week creative, research, and exchange experience, the residency traverses urban and rural landscapes across Bogotá, Cundinamarca (Sesquilé), and Boyacá (Iza). Rather than requiring finished artworks or high-pressure production, HILVANARIO invites participants to arrive with open questions—exploring raw materials, traditional craft workshops, and territory alongside master artisans, guest artists, and cultural mentors. Program Rationale & Structure The residency combines four core dimensions: Immersion: Experiencing diverse cultural and territorial contexts in Bogotá (urban), Sesquilé (rural Cundinamarca), and Iza (rural Boyacá). Crafts & Materials: Direct hands-on contact with master craftspeople, workshops, tools, and raw materials (including Taller Zorro in Sesquilé and Rebancá in Iza). Research & Creation: Ongoing individual/collaborative project development supported by mentors and local experts. Exchange & Network: Collective sharing of questions and methodologies among residents, hosts, and cultural agents, concluding with an open sharing of discoveries and inclusion in the Hilvanario collective archive. Eligibility Age & Qualifications: Open to anyone 18 years or older. No formal artistic training or degree is required. Target Profile: Open to artists, craftspeople, makers, designers, researchers, curators, arts managers, producers, and educators interested in material culture, territory, and situated knowledge. Proposal Requirement: Applicants must submit an initial proposal (artistic project, research question, material exploration, or territorial inquiry). Projects do not need to be closed or finished. Mandatory Travel & Health Requirements: Valid international travel insurance covering medical assistance in Colombia. Valid passport/ID with at least 10 months of validity remaining from the travel date. Commitment to participate in the complete 3-week program and engage in respectful, collective dynamics.
