First Nations Arts d/Deaf and/or Disabilities Project Fund

Overview

This fund supports projects and professional development opportunities across all art forms for Australian First Nations d/Deaf and/or disabled artists, arts workers, and organisations, nationally and internationally.

Key Dates

• Applications close: Tuesday 13 October 2026 (3pm AEDT)
• Notifications: December 2026
• Activities commencing from: 1 February 2027

Funding Amount

Applicants can apply requesting amounts between $5,000-$10,000 AUD.

Eligibility

• Individuals and groups must identify as First Nations, identify as d/Deaf and/or with disability, be 18+ years old, and be based in Australia
• Organisations must be Australian First Nations organisations with at least 51% First Nations on the board and demonstrate a history of working with and supporting First Nations d/Deaf and/or disabled artists and arts workers
• Each applicant can only submit one application to this grant initiative

What Can Be Funded

• Creation of new work, creative development, experimental arts practice-based research
• Skills development, mentoring, residencies
• Presenting and/or attending conferences and network opportunities
• Research into access and inclusion best practice
• Presentation and promotion, collaboration, productions, exhibitions, performances
• Publishing, music recording, and materials costs associated with a particular project/program

Access and Inclusion Support

• National Relay Service available for Deaf or hearing/speech impaired applicants (Voice Relay: 1300 555 727, TTY: 133 677)
• Auslan Interpreter Service available for application support meetings (request at least one week before deadline)
