Artists meet one-on-one with a consultant for a 1-hour meeting to seek advice, guidance, and direction on the business and professional development as an artist or creative business. Springboard consultants will listen, ask questions, and suggest actions or next steps for the artist. Consultations take place over the phone or virtually. In-person consultations are available at the consultant’s discretion or to accommodate an individual’s accessibility needs. What falls outside the scope of a consultation? Consultations are for guidance only on the business aspects of an artist’s work, not on their artistic process or product. Consultations are not suitable for ongoing mentorship through regular check-ins or training/education on a topic. Consultations are not designed for technical assistance or hands-on troubleshooting with equipment, software, or computer applications. For technical assistance, refer to our Resource Lab Tutorials. For any services not listed, or if you have questions, contact us at [email protected]. What if I’m running late or I need to reschedule or cancel a consultation? If you’re running late, or need to cancel or reschedule a consultation, please contact the consultant directly with as much advance notice as possible, and they will advise you on the next steps. How many consultations can I schedule? You’re welcome to schedule as many free consultations as are available to you, or as many paid consultations as you are able to afford. For paid consultations, Springboard provides consultations on a sliding scale fee of $50-$125 for one 1 hr consultation. The number of sliding scale consultations available in a calendar year is subject to our available funding and is determined at the discretion of Springboard staff. Consultations are scheduled one 1 hr consultation at a time, and each new request must be made through the Consultation Request Form. How many free consultations can I get? Every Minnesota based artist is eligible for at least one free 1-hour consultation per calendar year. Beyond that, Minnesota artists may be eligible for additional free consultation time, subject to the availability of funding from our underwriting partners. How many people can attend a consultation? Consultations work best one-on-one. We can meet with small groups of 2-3 collaborators working together on a single project (artists, support staff, etc). If you have a larger group and would like to work with Springboard to present a workshop or presentation, please contact us and we’ll get in touch with a quote. Can I schedule a consultation if I don’t live in Minnesota? Yes. For artists based outside Minnesota, Springboard provides consultations on a sliding scale fee of $50-$125 for one 1 hr consultation. The number of sliding scale consultations available in a calendar year is subject to our available funding and is determined at the discretion of Springboard staff. Can I schedule a consultation for my non-profit organization? Career consultations are geared towards individual artists and teams of artists working in fiscally sponsored groups. We are able to provide consultations for non-profit organizations, but in such instances we charge a fee of $125 for a 1 hr consultation.
