Overview
One Columbia helps individuals and organizations bring new works of public art to the community. They provide experience and connections to help you set goals, define plans, and identify artists.
The Process
- Step 1: Project Planning – Choose site and type of artwork, set budget and artwork details, secure property approval and permits.
- Step 2: Call to Artists – Decide on type of call (open, limited, or direct selection), form selection committee, publish call with guidelines, budget, and requirements.
- Step 3: Award Process – Narrow applicants to 3–5 finalists, review concepts, budgets, timelines, and maintenance plans, select and contract the artist.
- Step 4: Artwork Creation & Installation – Artist fabricates artwork, site prepared and artwork installed.
Timelines
- Discovery: 4–12 weeks
- Development: 6–12 weeks
- Fabrication & Installation: 12–52 weeks
