Description Opportunity FAQs Make a submission Contact curator Are you interested in having your art published, printed, and posted directly to your door? Exhibit alongside a diverse network of established and emerging artists in a collection underpinned by the theme of Hope. All art in any medium related to this theme is welcome to feature in the eighth installation of this series!Wiro Mag is a paperbound gallery space designed to capture art practice in motion, seeking to connect emerging and established artists with broader audiences, gain reputable and tangible exposure, and drive intimate conversations with creative individuals or collectives.Wiro Mag: Hope is an exploration of how ideas surrounding faith, optimism, or promise can be represented through art practice. This could be through the manipulation of mediums to instil feelings of hope, the use of optimistic or reassuring imagery to communicate an idea, or the arrangement of compositions to represent what being hopeful could look like.A free-form and interspersed range of photographs are scattered across otherwise vacant white space, scattered as if to simulate a chaotic assembly process. However, each image captures a moment in time when promises were delivered, faith was restored, or optimism was forged. This allows the viewer to contemplate how such moments occur throughout history, and the importance of acknowledging and appreciating them at a time when it is so easy to focus on negative headlines. An angel-like figure descends affront a radiant sky, parting clouds, dissolving chaos, and overturning injustice. The watercolours, resins, and chalks that make up this composition allow for different surfaces and textures to be represented in a truly cohesive way, where different mediums align in harmony, bringing to our attention how even the most mismatched substances can be unified into something that is cohesive and aesthetically beautiful.A deeply intense and erratic intersection of lines and arcs are muddled through their tendency to seep into one another, creating a sense of visual chaos that is difficult to decipher. Yet, the bright and energetic pigments light up that space the work occupies, elevating the room, and encouraging the viewer to surrender to the overwhelming spectrum of each mark working together to create something bigger. These are just some of the ways in which the theme of Hope could be captured in the work you submit. Wiro Mag invites you to challenge these criteria and push the boundaries of how these ideas can be depicted or expressed through art practice.Featured artists will receive: A copy of the publication packaged and sent to their address in biodegradable packaging.
