BolsterArts is accepting applications for six artist positions across three 2027 cohorts. Each selected resident receives four months of rent-free studio space in Chinatown, NYC, along with studio visits with curators, gallerists, writers, artists, and arts professionals, culminating in a public Open Studio event.

  • Cohort 07: January 1 – April 30, 2027
  • Cohort 08: May 1 – August 31, 2027
  • Cohort 09: September 1 – December 31, 2027

Two artists are selected for each cohort. Six artists will be selected across the 2027 residency year.

Designed for artists with developed practices and expansive ambition, the BolsterArts Residency provides sustained time, space, and professional engagement for artists to develop their work in New York City.

The selection panel includes Esther Flury, an independent art professional and exhibition producer with over two decades of experience managing international exhibitions, and Amber Jamilla Musser, a professor and visual studies scholar at CUNY Graduate Center specializing in Black feminisms, sexuality, and visual culture.
