Overview
Fronteer Gallery invites bird-related artwork for a small-works exhibition. Submit images of birds, work made using feathers, or pieces inspired by nests, cages, or trees. Work can be in any medium except audio or video.
Size & Format
- Wall mounted work: no more than 30cm × 30cm of wall space, including frames and mounts (framed or unframed)
- 3-D and sculptural work: should fit on a 30×30cm plinth, not exceeding 35cm (height) × 30 × 30cm
- Work without hanging attachments must be suitable for hanging with Command Strips
Submissions
- Up to 3 pieces per artist
- Complete a separate form for each submission
- Optional: provide a short description of no more than 50 words to be displayed alongside the work
Eligibility
UK based artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit.
Key Dates
- Submission deadline: 6 September 2026
- Successful artists contacted shortly after deadline
- Work delivery by post: by 19 September 2026 at the latest
- In-person delivery to gallery: 10–19 September during opening hours
- Hanging fee payment due: 19 September 2026
- Exhibition dates: 29 September – 8 October 2026
- Opening event: Saturday 26 September, 4–6 pm
- Work collection: 27 October – 11 November during gallery opening hours
Fees & Awards

- Successful artists pay £20 per piece of work selected
- Work can be offered for sale with a 10% commission charge
- Private view evening with free drinks, invigilation, and online promotion included with hanging fee
Work Requirements
All work must be complete and original at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece or size submitted may be rejected. Canvas prints are not accepted as substitutes for original artwork. If submitting any form of print, you must print and prepare it for exhibition before delivery.
