Overview
Baton Rouge Gallery, a professional non-profit contemporary art center founded in 1966 and the nation's longest-operating artist cooperative, invites artists to apply for Exhibiting Artist membership. The gallery's 75+ Exhibiting Artists have a strong voice in organizational decisions and special exhibitions.

Eligibility
All artists age 18+ are eligible. Applicants must be at least two years removed from schooling; no student work or work executed under other supervision will be considered. Applicants should prove residency in Louisiana or explain in an accompanying statement their relationship to Louisiana or Baton Rouge. Once accepted, artists may maintain membership if they relocate outside the region.
What to Submit
- 10–20 digital images of your work (.jpg, .pdf, .mov, or .mp4 format); images preferred in .jpg at minimum 300 dpi and at least 5 inches on the shortest side
- Resume/CV, bio, and artist statement (three separate .doc or .pdf files) via email
- $5 processing fee
Jury Process
There are two rounds. Round 1 consists of the digital application. Artists advancing to round 2 will be asked to deliver two physical works to the gallery for in-person review by the selection panel, focusing on craftsmanship and presentation. Do not bring artwork unless invited.
Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated on (1) quality and consistency of craftsmanship, (2) ability to maintain a consistent conceptual focus within a body of work, (3) professional representation of work and CV, and (4) professional experience.
