‘In Simplicitate Libertas’ 1-Week UNESCO Site Discovery

Overview

RUC offers a 1-week artist residency at Villa Amati in the Camonica Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the central Italian Alps. The program supports artists' development through reconnection with nature and the valley's ancient traditions, featuring prehistoric engravings, Roman archaeological sites, glacial lakes, and mountains. Artists will have focused studio and en plein air working time, plus opportunities to participate in workshops and cultural trips exploring the region's historical-artistic treasures.

Accommodation

Artists are housed at Villa Amati, a distinctive early 20th-century villa in a rural community nestled among vineyards and woods. Private rooms and studios are available, with shared kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. Single or shared room options are offered.

Studio & Workspace

Artists may work outdoors and create their own outdoor studio space anywhere in the garden area. Upon request, private indoor studio spaces are also available on the top floor of Villa Amati.

Disciplines & Materials

RUC welcomes visual artists, musicians, and writers. Artists are encouraged to bring their own materials; if not possible, materials can be shipped in advance or ordered from a professional store in the region.

Fees & Financial Support

Accommodation costs range from €550 to €1,800. RUC can provide a letter of invitation to support artists' grant or funding applications if financial assistance is needed.

Expectations

There are no obligatory requirements for artists. Residents are free to concentrate solely on their work. It is welcome, though not required, to share an informal presentation of their work at the start of their stay and to participate in the social life of the residency when possible.
