Overview

The Cultural Department of the City of Munich promotes international cultural exchange and cross-border cooperation of Munich cultural practitioners. Funding is provided for international projects of all disciplines in Munich and projects with the participation of Munich actors abroad, particularly through subsidies for travel, accommodation, production costs, and artist fees.

Submission Deadlines

• Funding less than 1,000 Euro (gross): can be applied for at any time until funds are exhausted; no deadlines apply.
• Funding between 1,000 Euro (gross) and 10,000 Euro (gross):
• October 30, 2026 for projects between January and August 2027.
• April 30, 2027 for projects between September and December 2027.

Eligibility

• Professional artists and cultural workers residing or working primarily in Munich.
• Artist groups, associations, initiatives, and organizations of Munich's independent art scene.
• In justified individual cases: Other non-profit institutions that support Munich's independent art scene through the funded project.

Funding Criteria

The general funding criteria of the Cultural Department apply to the projects. A further important decision criterion is the quality of the international cooperation, exchange, and joint work process.

Required Documents

• The completed and signed application form for project grants.
• A description of the project.
• The cost and financing plan.
• Confirmation of the project location and date(s).
• For projects exceeding 5,000 Euro (gross) in funding:
• Proof of applied for or granted co-financing.
• Confirmation from participating individuals (at least three) and cooperation partners (at least two).
