The Canadian quartet have forged their reputation for making electronic music with a human touch. While many artists create that core electronic via laptops, loops and drum machines, Holy Fuck keep every element as live as possible. The intoxication they inspire comes not from cold, staid perfection, but from the ragged energy that comes from four musicians relishing sharing a moment. It has been a full six years since the release of Holy Fuck’s most recent album, Deleter. This year, the band returns with a new full-length record titled Event Beat. “The catalyst for this album was simply us getting back together.” After a short hiatus caused by the pandemic, the band reuniting proved so inspiring that it resulted in an entire new record, despite the fact that they originally gathered in an old village hall in rural Nova Scotia just to get back to playing together after nearly two years apart. Holy Fuck's new album blends shimmering synths, ambient soundscapes and pulsating basslines with elements of punk-funk and krautrock, along with a dose of pure dancefloor euphoria, reminiscent of Orbital and Underworld. While Event Beat has no overarching concept, it repeatedly circles themes of momentum towards something that is beyond personal control, either at the mercy of some bigger system or some unspoken will. With the release of Event Beat, Holy Fuck return to Europe later this year, with a show at Prague's MeetFactory on October 6. The night will open with British duo Rattle (Katharine Eira Brown & Theresa Wrigley) who distill the essence of post-punk through the minimalist instrumentation of just two drum kits and vocals. "The Nova Scotian foursome have never been ones to abide by rules and their latest genre-bending offering perfectly encapsulates the technicolour fantasy behind their sound." — DIY MagazineTickets:550 CZK in presale from January 16, 10:00350 CZK for students with ISIC650 CZK at the doorBefore your visit to MeetFactory, we recommend checking out the page Information for visitors.TweetMeetFactoryLost and FoundsProgramResidencyMusicOtherUsefulNewsArchivePressSitemapMF elsewhereFacebookInstagramYoutubeInstagram A-i-RI want current news© MeetFactory o.p.s.
