Overview

Sustained Support assists with the day-to-day operational needs of arts organizations and local arts agencies throughout King County. These funds support creativity flourishing in the places that make King County a cultural hub.

2025-2027 awards have been announced; current grantees do not need to reapply
Fall 2025 deadline for organizations not in the current funding group to apply for 2026-2027 funding

Eligibility

King County-based nonprofit arts organizations and Local Arts Agencies (LAAs) with 501(c)(3) status (or fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3)) whose primary purpose is advancing and preserving visual or performing arts, heritage, or natural history. Organizations must provide programming or experiences available to the general public.

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated competitively based on: Resilience (demonstrated plans to remain operational through 2025, adaptability, responsiveness to community needs); Public benefit (free or reduced-cost access, programs increasing access to artistic services); Advancing equity (focus on marginalized communities disproportionately impacted by structural racism, not required); Economic impact (spending on wages, goods, services, promoting tourism); Artistic substance (robust, creative services engaging the community).

Geographic & Equity Investments

Additional funding for organizations outside Seattle city limits
Additional Equity Investment funding for organizations located in Communities of Opportunity (COO) areas
Equity Investment Score for organizations excelling in advancing equity in King County
Organizations with annual budgets over $5 million do not qualify for additional geographic/equity funding
