About

Overview

ACENTRICSPACE AiR is an artist residency program open to contemporary artists worldwide. The residency encourages both young artists continuing their practice and established artists to create a new body of work and engage with artists from China and internationally. Over 200 artists have participated since the program's launch in October 2017.

Accommodation & Facilities

Private bedrooms with queen-size or super single-size bed, air conditioner, desk, chair, and open closet. Shared kitchen, laundry room with washing machine and dryer, and rooftop terrace. The 600-square-meter facility includes 6 private studios, 2 exhibition spaces, and additional shared amenities.

Disciplines & Equipment

Open to Visual Art, Sculpture, Ceramics, Dance, Theatre, Printmaking, Performing Arts, Music, Literature, New Media, Animations, Film-making, Architecture, Curatorial, and Photography. Semi-shared studios with personal working space and a wide variety of tools/equipment available (easel, tripod, lighting gear, projector, monitor, speakers, and more).

Fee

7700 CNY per month per artist
Includes accommodation, studio, and exhibition
Artists are responsible for transportation, food, art materials, and other living expenses
No funding support provided by ACENTRICSPACE; applicants encouraged to seek scholarships and grants in their home countries

Exhibition & Expectations

ACENTRICSPACE curates exhibitions for resident artists at the end of residency (usually the last weekend of the month). Artists staying 1–2 months participate in group exhibitions; those staying 3 months have solo exhibitions. Exhibition participation is not compulsory. All work created during residency belongs to the artist; ACENTRICSPACE does not request donations.
