About
Overview
The Glaskasten Gallery on Chemnitz's Sonnenberg will be transformed into a temporary arrival hall exploring how cultural venues can become more welcoming and accessible. The space will host workshops, discussions, performances, musical presentations, culinary events, and community-oriented activities.
The Concept
Starting from a bus stop outside the project house where people often seek shelter but rarely enter the gallery, the call invites spatial designs that answer: How must a space be designed to encourage people to enter? What conveys safety and belonging? The design should respond to the neighborhood's character as a space of migration, social transformation, and demographic change.

Selection Process
An advisory board of local stakeholders will select three projects and invite them to Chemnitz for a research and concept development phase.
Compensation
- €750 (gross) for each selected candidate upon submission of concept proposal
- €2,100 (gross) additional fee for implementation

Funding
The project is made possible by the Socio-Cultural Fund and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony, financed with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and tax revenues based on the budget adopted by the Saxon State Parliament.
