Overview
AIR – Artist in Residence Lower Austria supports artists from different disciplines and backgrounds through temporary living and working opportunities. The program promotes artistic exchange, shared learning, and understanding, with a focus on internationalization of art in Lower Austria and interdisciplinary exchange.
Program Details
- Duration: 5 weeks
- Accommodation: Private studio apartment (45–120 m²) with kitchen, bathroom, internet, WLAN, dishwasher, washing machine, electric stove
- Workspace: Shared ~120 m² workspace equipped with tools, computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner; camera, video, projector, and sound system available for rental
- Attendance requirement: 80% mandatory presence
Eligibility
Applications accepted from artists in architecture, visual arts, digital art, literature, and music. International artists welcome. Applications with thematic focus on regeneration are encouraged.
Support & Costs
- Grant: €1,950 per artist
- Artists bear costs for travel, transfer, materials, and meals
Program Goals
AIR provides space and time for artists to develop their work further, fosters a collaborative environment enabling idea and knowledge exchange, and creates a unique space for experimentation without production pressure. Events in cooperation with local art institutions help integrate artists into the Lower Austrian and Viennese art scene.
