The Merchants of the Macabre Oddities Market is a themed pop-up vendor event taking place outdoors at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. Guests will browse strange items of the magical, mystical, and macabre from 10 am to 6 pm. The Downtown Market's pop-up markets are popular throughout West Michigan, with attendance averaging 4,000+ guests.

  • Event date: Saturday, October 24, 2026, 10 am – 6 pm
  • Application submission deadline: October 16, 2026
  • Vendor notification: within 2 weeks of applying

Market Shed and East Lot, 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The outdoor space is partially covered and allows electrical connection for an additional fee if needed.

  • Ethically sourced items only
  • No human remains sales (teeth, hair, and blood art excluded)
  • Food vendors must be licensed and carry applicable food licenses
  • Foods prepared under Cottage Food Law are prohibited
  • Food and beverage for immediate consumption, mobile food establishments, and Special Transitory Food Units are not allowed
  • No animal lives may be ended for the sake of art; all specimens must be legal per state regulations
  • True crime items with gory or intense imagery, or nudity, must be displayed behind glass or in a tucked booth with 18+ warning signage
  • Cryptid and monster items (stuffed animals, textiles, etc.)
  • Artwork (fantasy, dragon/wizard, tattoo-related, Victorian, resin, horror, cryptid/monster, etc.)
  • Wall hangings (medical charts, anatomy)
  • Vintage or antique medical equipment
  • Masks, dolls, spiritual items (voodoo, crystal balls, crystals, geodes, dream catchers, tarot cards, ouija boards, etc.)
  • Victorian items (dishware, artwork, etc.)
  • Dried flowers
  • Macabre ceramics (skulls, horror, spiritual, etc.)
  • Apothecary items (bottles, glassware, beakers, etc.)
  • Edible macabre food items produced with license (candy, packaged food)
  • Ethically sourced preserved insects and specimens (pinned, resin preserved, etc.)
  • Ethically sourced taxidermy and skeletal items (antlers, skulls, etc.)
  • Ethically sourced true crime items (memorabilia, books, photos, etc.)
  • Application fee: $15
  • Minimum 5 images required to apply
  • Jury process on rolling basis
  • Vendors will be accepted for no more than four (4) Downtown Market Vendor events in 2026 to ensure product variety

Vendors are juried on a rolling basis. Once you submit your application, a jury process will take place. You will be contacted if additional information is required. You will be notified within two weeks of applying.

The event will be advertised and promoted throughout West Michigan through printed literature, email blasts, media alerts, and paid and organic social media campaigns.
