Program Overview
Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center, located in the Madou district approximately 50 minutes from downtown Tainan, offers artists-in-residence placements in historic buildings originally constructed as the Japanese Meiji Sugar Manufacturing Corporation headquarters (opened 1912). The center provides exhibition and creation space in two preserved Red Brick buildings. Open to all artistic disciplines.

Eligibility
Open to emerging and mid-career artists based anywhere in the world. All applicants must be able to communicate in English, Chinese, or Japanese. Collaborative teams may apply. Artists must plan projects based on the residency theme and create on-site specific work integrating the center's historical heritage buildings.
Stipends and Fees
- Application fee: 0 New Taiwan Dollar
- Artist stipend: 0 New Taiwan Dollar
- Travel stipend/material stipend: 150,000 New Taiwan Dollar
- Monthly living and working subsidy: up to 30,000 New Taiwan Dollar (paid in 2 installments; excludes personal income tax of 6%-20% for foreigners)
- Presentation/exhibition expense allocation: maximum 150,000 New Taiwan Dollar (includes exhibition services, brochure design/printing, artwork insurance, translation, press conference; excludes artwork transportation)
- Note: Stamp tax of one thousandth of total subsidy amount must be paid in cash by artists
Expectations
Participate in open studio with fellow residents and lead a workshop for the public.
