International art fairs outside the Netherlands

This grant from the Mondriaan Fund supports Dutch and non-Dutch galleries and art book publishers presenting work by living visual artists from the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom at international art fairs.

  • Dutch and non-Dutch galleries that subscribe to the Gallery Fair Practice Code
  • Publishers of art books participating in art book fairs outside the Netherlands
  • Artists must be artistically and substantively active in the visual arts field and part of professional art practice in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom

Stand rental costs for galleries participating in international art fairs with presentations of visual art from the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

  • Less than 40% of presented works: not eligible
  • 40–80% of presented works: 50% of basic stand rental up to maximum grant
  • More than 80% of presented works: 80% of basic stand rental up to maximum grant
  • Stand rental less than €20,000: maximum grant €4,750
  • Stand rental €20,000–€30,000: maximum grant €6,750
  • Stand rental more than €30,000: maximum grant €9,000
  • For fairs on the established list: apply up to 6 weeks before the fair opens
  • For fairs not on the established list: allow 3 months for processing
  • Maximum one application per gallery per art fair
  • No more than 3 grants awarded per calendar year
  • An invitation from the art fair must be included with the application
  • Galleries must sign and apply the Gallery Fair Practice Code and publish it on their website
  • Galleries can apply for stand rental costs only, not furnishing, VAT/sales tax, or other costs
  • Artists presented must be living and active in contemporary visual arts
