Overview
The Robert McLaughlin Gallery offers educational programming designed to encourage students to look at, discuss, and respond to artworks in the permanent collection and current exhibitions. All programs include hands-on art making sessions.
Program Types
- At-Gallery programs: students visit the gallery and participate in discussion and studio art making
- At-School programs: the Learning and Engagement Team delivers 90-120 minute sessions in classrooms for Gr. 1 to Gr. 8, combining curriculum content with artworks from the permanent collection, including works by members of the Painters Eleven
- Activity Guides: supplementary resources for independent or asynchronous learning featuring artist information, discussion prompts, hands-on activities, and extended learning ideas
- Learning Video Series: three free interactive video lessons (approximately 30 minutes each) for classroom use, geared toward specific grade levels to support social studies, science, and art curriculums; videos can be paired with downloadable PDF lesson plans and material lists (approximately 1 hour total with art making)
