About
Overview
The Young People: First Nations Arts & Culture Project Fund supports Australian First Nations artists or arts workers aged 18–35 to develop their creative practice and career across all art forms (excluding screen and film), nationally and internationally.
Key Dates
- Applications close: Tuesday 15 September 2026 (3PM AEST)
- Notifications: December 2026
- Activities commencing from: 1 February 2027
- Note: Registration in the Application Management System required minimum two business days prior to closing date
Award
Grants available from $10,000 to $20,000 AUD. Projects must be completed within 12 months of the proposed start date.
Eligibility
- Must be an Australian First Nations artist or arts and culture worker
- Age 18–35 years
- Living in Australia
- Can submit only one application per grant initiative
- Preferred to have an Australian Business Number (ABN), or arrange auspice
- Cannot apply if: not a practicing First Nations artist/worker, a group/organisation, a manager or agent, based outside Australia, applying for screen/film project, already received funding for same project from Creative Australia, have overdue grant report, or owe money to Creative Australia
Eligible Uses
Activities can include but are not limited to: professional skills development (mentoring, masterclasses, workshops, residencies), creation of new work, practice-based research, creative development, experimentation, collaborations and exchanges, touring productions, exhibitions, performances, publishing, recording, promotion and marketing, market development, materials costs, and access costs.
Access Costs
Access costs are eligible and may include Auslan interpreters, captioning, translation to other languages, audio description, temporary building adjustments, materials in other formats, technical equipment, carer or support worker assistance, and sensory spaces for events and festivals.

Log into or create an account in the Application Management System. Select 'Apply for a Grant', choose the Young People: First Nations Arts & Culture Project Fund, complete required fields and dropdowns, upload support material, and submit. Save drafts via 'Your Draft Applications' if needed.
