Get help here: Cultural Funding Consultation Program description As part of the Franz Hecker Scholarship, the Kreissparkasse Bersenbrück offers young artists working in the visual arts (painting, sculpture, graphic arts, and photography) the opportunity to pursue their artistic work for a period of three months without significant financial burden. The scholarship is named after Franz Hecker (1870–1944), a painter and graphic artist born in Bersenbrück, who was artistically active in Osnabrück and the Osnabrück region throughout his life. The scholarship is endowed with a total of €10,000. In exchange, the scholarship recipient is expected to spend most of their time during the three-month scholarship period in the vicinity of the Hasemühle in Bersenbrück (Osnabrück district) and to engage in artistic work. First put into operation in 1293 as the monastery mill of the former Cistercian convent in Bersenbrück, the Hasemühle has undergone a long and fascinating evolution since then. Today, the Hasemühle is used to generate electricity and, in particular, as a venue for events and exhibitions. Accommodations are provided in the granny flat across the street. The costs associated with the residency are to be covered by the fellow. Institution Kreissparkasse Bersenbrück Kreissparkasse Bersenbrück has been assuming social responsibility for generations. It does so not only through its charitable foundation but also by awarding the Franz Hecker Scholarship. Funding period The scholarship lasts three months between April and October 2027.
