Get matched →The Mudhouse is an artist residency located in the village of Agios Ioannis on the Island of Crete, Greece. Started in 2015, the Mudhouse offers two-week residency sessions each summer for international contemporary artists working across various artistic disciplines. It aims to provide inspiration from the natural beauty, solitude for creative growth, an artistic community, and an immersive cultural experience.
The Mudhouse welcomes visual artists, writers, musicians, and performers, hosting a diverse, multicultural, multi-generational cohort in each session. Artists are invited to present a slideshow, lecture, or reading on their work and participate in a closing exhibition at the Residency’s conclusion, installed jointly in the ruins around the village and the exhibition space. Artists' time is their own to focus on their art practice and explore the rich history of southern Crete and the Minoan civilization.
We are accepting applications for the Early Acceptance General Application and our Full Fellowship Award Application.
The Mudhouse Residency provides accommodations, studio space, and two meals each day for the two-week duration of the residency, in the village.
