$20,000
Australia

The Ian Potter Music Commission was a decade-long commissioning series of contemporary Australian music compositions that ran from 1999–2009. It aimed to put a spotlight on the composition of new Australian music and was presented biennially, judged by some of Australia's most respected music artists, conductors, and composers.

  • Emerging Composer Fellowship: $20,000 over two years
  • Established Composer Fellowship: $80,000 over two years

The commissions were established to help spotlight the composition of new Australian music and to recognize and invest in Australia's most talented composers. The program aimed to reward creative excellence, vision and ideas with the opportunity and scope to realize these in the development, creation and performance of new works. Over 10 years, the Music Commissions invested $500,000 to support the creation of new work by well-regarded composers and musicians.
