Fonderie Darling offers eight studio spaces to professional visual artists as part of the Montreal Studios residency program. Eligibility
- Professional visual artists based in Montreal
- Individual applications and artist duos accepted
- No nationality or legal status restrictions, but must be able to reside in Montreal for entire 2026–2029 period
- Must dedicate full-time to artistic practice and occupy studio consistently and regularly
- Cannot apply for other international residencies lasting more than one month
- Must demonstrate commitment to participating in collective life and public activities of Fonderie Darling
Selection Criteria
Applications evaluated by a jury of arts professionals based on: quality, rigour, and singularity of artistic practice; relevance and coherence of proposed project within Fonderie Darling's context; capacity to fully engage in residency and maintain regular studio presence; willingness to contribute to collective life and artistic community; technical feasibility of project given available resources and facilities.
Sponsorship Program
The Sponsorship Program occasionally provides additional support to cover studio costs and include a production grant, promoting a special relationship between artist and patron (institution, collection, or individual). Support is not guaranteed.
Accessibility
The studios are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building without a freight elevator and do not meet accessibility standards for people with disabilities. Inquiries about space accessibility are welcome.
