Get matched →Tomáš Mitura: Chasing Shadows is a mural piece that straddles the boundaries of expressive painting, street art, comics, and subcultural imagery. The central motif features a pair of characters—a bald boy and a girl goalkeeper—grinding along the edges of sidewalks, climbing up a precarious cone toward an undefined danger. They are figures without a foothold, moving through the city as if in a game whose rules change unpredictably. The artist comments: "In the streets, a person is like on a battlefield, always in a hurry, and the rules are constantly changing."
Tomáš Mitura (*1988, Frýdek-Místek) is a painter, graphic artist, and tattoo artist living and working in Prague. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Painting Studio IV, 2010–2016) and studied at Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan. Since 2011, he has exhibited in solo and group shows including Maltovy schody (2016), Frost (2017), Conjure Good Ass War (2020), and Pondělní dítě (2022). He focuses on painting, illustration, and graphic design for the music scene, creating album covers, posters, and visuals for bands internationally. He is the frontman of the band Vole and a member of Sněť, operating at the intersection of visual art and underground music culture. He is a co-author of the two-part tattoo zine POKEPOKEPOKE.
