You must be a professional artist or curator/observer with a minimum of 1 year of professional experience. Dutch nationality is required (or equivalent as specified in online guidelines). Some residencies accept both artists and curators; others are exclusive to one category—check the online guidance for your specific residency.
Indicate up to two preferred residency periods (start and end dates). You may apply for up to 2 residencies per funding round, submitting a separate form for each.
Describe your artistic vision, how you express it, your chosen media and techniques, and your artistic development. Include any collaborative work with other artists, curators, or observers and your specific role. Explain your cultural entrepreneurship activities: social media presence, website, networking, gallery/institutional partnerships, participation in open calls.
Submit a CV covering your entire artistic practice with emphasis on the last 1–4 years. Include exhibitions (solo/group), sales, publications, acquisitions, commissions, subsidies, prizes with dates. List any secondary activities (teaching, advisory roles).
Provide a concise summary (max 150 words / 1200 characters) of your motivation and plan. Then describe in detail: your motivation for this residency, your artistic plan, how your motivation and plan align with the residency's location, facilities, and context, how the residency will advance your practice and network, and how you will reach and engage a relevant audience during and after the residency (e.g., blog, website updates, exhibition, open studio, workshop).
Create a PDF with up to 20 pages of your most significant works from the past 1–4 years. Start with the most recent work. Distribute works evenly across years to show your development. Use one image per page; for spatial works, you may show multiple perspectives on a single page (up to 5 of the 20 pages). You may also upload audio or video/film excerpts (max 15 minutes total, max 500 MB combined).
If you plan to work in a fixed or temporary partnership with other artists, curators, or observers during the residency, indicate this and provide partner details. Each partner must submit a separate application; all applications will be reviewed simultaneously. Not all residencies accept collaborative teams—check the online guidance.
You must confirm that you have read and accept the Mondriaan Fonds General Terms and Conditions and any residency-specific conditions outlined in the online guidance.
