The City of Inverness seeks artists with pre-existing sculptural work for Visual Symphony: An Interactive Experience, a new outdoor public art installation along a well-traveled pedestrian pathway. Inspired by the relationship between motion, color, rhythm, and music, the project will feature sculpture that creates an engaging and memorable experience for visitors. The City is particularly interested in kinetic, interactive, sound-based, movement-driven, or abstract works that encourage visitors to explore and interact with the artwork from multiple perspectives.

Eligibility
Artists with a demonstrated record in public art or comparable projects are encouraged. Applicants must submit pre-existing artwork for consideration; this opportunity is not intended as a commission for the creation of an entirely new sculpture. Proposed artwork must be suitable for installation in a public outdoor environment and must be capable of meeting applicable safety and accessibility requirements.
Media & submission requirements
Submit up to 20 images (minimum 2), up to 5 audio files, and up to 5 videos (minimum 2 total assets).
Application materials
- Artist statement: overview of your practice and relationship to the project goals
- Images of proposed existing artwork with dimensions of each piece
- Interactive element description: explanation of any movement, sound, light, kinetic, or interactive features
- Portfolio of previous work: three to five relevant examples, preferably demonstrating public art, sculpture, interactive installations, or kinetic/sound-based work
- Resume or CV detailing relevant artistic experience, exhibitions, commissions, public art projects, and education
Project details
The selected work will be installed in an outdoor public environment. The artwork must be designed for permanent outdoor installation, fabricated from durable materials appropriate for Central Florida's subtropical climate, and capable of withstanding prolonged sun exposure, high humidity, heavy rainfall, and hurricane-force winds. It must meet all applicable structural, engineering, accessibility, and public safety requirements.
Budget
A total budget of $25,000 is available for the entirety of the project. The budget must be inclusive of all project-related costs, including transportation, installation, insurance, permitting, and any applicable design, engineering, materials, or fabrication expenses.
