Pickled Magazine Issue #2, titled 'Roots,' invites visual artists and writers to submit work for a print-only publication. The theme celebrates what grounds you away from screens—the real, authentic, and present aspects of life. All types of subjects and authentic self-expression are welcome.

  • Submission deadline: 1st September 2026
  • Notification: TBC
  • Open to anyone
  • No AI-generated or AI-assisted work permitted
  • Up to 3 projects total
  • Up to 10 images with titles and descriptions, up to 3 written works, or a combination of both
  • Work does not need to be finished; incomplete projects are acceptable
  • Free to submit
  • No payments to artists at this stage; payments may be offered in future issues

Works are chosen based on overall submission quality, subjects presented, and magazine cohesion and flow. The magazine will print 100 copies for the first run; additional copies may be printed if demand warrants. It will be pitched to independent print stores in the north.
