About

Overview

798 Art District, in partnership with BOUNDED SPACE, launches the "798 Multidisciplinary Residency Project" as China's first residency and co-creation program dedicated to the intersection of art, technology, and music. The residency takes place at the 798 Multidisciplinary Base within the district, a 300,000-square-meter Bauhaus-style complex built in the 1950s. It is positioned as a platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue, industry connection, and creative inspiration.

Theme

Premonition: Miracles at the Threshold—exploring "the Real" (drawing on Jacques Lacan's framework) as the aspect of reality not yet captured by language or existing systems of knowledge. The project invites artists, musicians, and scientists to jointly push beyond established cognitive boundaries and explore the unknown at the convergence of art, music, and science.

Eligibility

Open to visual artists, new media artists, sound artists, and groups (up to 2 members)
Minimum of 5 years of creative practice required
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration preferred (not mandatory)
Must be able to participate full-time throughout the residency period

How to Apply

Email application to [email protected]. After submission, the organizing committee conducts an initial review. Selected applicants receive an official letter of invitation to confirm participation, followed by on-site orientation and signing of a formal agreement.
