Glynn Visual Arts invites artists throughout Southeast Georgia to create original artworks for a large-format installation titled Expressing Democracy: A Patchwork of Voices, to celebrate the Smithsonian Institution's Voices and Votes: Democracy in America exhibit opening at the College of Coastal Georgia.

  • Southeast Georgia artists preferred

Any medium that can be applied to or adhered to canvas. Each piece must be 12 x 12 inches, 12 x 24 inches, or 24 x 12 inches and 1 - 2 inches deep.

Create artwork expressing your artistic vision of democracy, voting rights, freedom of speech, or the role of active, informed citizens. Works may be inspired by personal experiences, historical events, or current affairs. The project is apolitical.

  • Works deemed vulgar or incendiary will not be included in the final installation
  • All submissions will be juried by a panel of artists
  • Accepted works will be incorporated into a patchwork unit roughly 10 feet by 12 feet
