AIR Berlin Alexanderplatz is a residency founded in 2010 by artists Susanne Kriemann and Aleksander Komarov. The program emphasizes investigative research and knowledge production through substantive support, direct connections to Berlin's arts network, and 'salons' where residents present research and discuss sociological and political themes with specialists from the Berlin arts and culture scene.

Visual artists, curators, and art observers can apply. Duos and collaborative partners are welcome; each person must submit a separate application. A duo is understood as 2 artists/curators/observers who consistently produce work together as a single unit.

  • 1 January – 30 April 2027
  • 1 May – 31 August 2027
  • 1 September – 31 December 2027
  • €10,141 for artists
  • €7,879 for curators or art observers
  • Amounts increase proportionally for duos/collaborative partnerships
  • Additional contribution available for artists based in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom to cover higher travel costs

The deadline for submitting an application is Thursday 26 February, before 16:00 (Dutch time zone) / 11:00 (Caribbean time zone).

An advisory committee selects residents based on submitted documents. A representative of ABA participates in the meeting. Processing time may exceed three months. When applying for two different residencies within the same call, the assessment is valid for both applications.

See the Residency page for terms and conditions, application procedure, assessment procedure, and terms and conditions applicable to Mondriaan Fund contributions.
