About
Overview
CSU Spur invites artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to submit proposals for solo exhibitions celebrating the intersection of community, sustainability and innovation. We seek compelling works that explore ideas of environmental stewardship, scientific curiosity and the power of local storytelling through art. Exhibition proposals around themes of food, water and health are encouraged.
Key Dates
- Application Deadline: Nov. 1, 2026 (rolling submissions reviewed quarterly)
- Application Review: Quarterly beginning November 2025
- Artists Notified: Selected artists will be contacted by CSU Spur staff to set up initial meeting
- Exhibition Dates: For the years 2026-2027 (exact dates determined in collaboration with CSU Spur)
Eligibility
- Open to artists working in any medium, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, fiber arts and mixed media
- All works must be original and created within the past five years
- Both emerging and established artists encouraged to apply
- Residents of 80216 zip code encouraged to apply
Media & Submission Requirements
- Submit 5-10 high-quality images of artwork (images must be part of the proposed exhibition)
- Artwork details (title, medium, dimensions, year created)
- Artist statement (max. 250 words)
- Artist bio (max. 250 words)
- Exhibition proposal (max. 500 words) including how it connects to CSU Spur themes, visitor experience, scope, and contact information
- Resume or CV (no larger than 2mb; txt, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, or jpg format only)
Display Requirements
- Artworks must be ready to hang on a wall with security hardware (framed works)
- Artwork will be in a public space and may be left unattended; staff presence is not guaranteed
- Unmounted works on paper will not be accepted
- If selected, works must be dropped off in person to CSU Spur in Denver, or shipped with prior arrangements
Theme & Scope
Artworks should align with building themes of food, water, health and/or sustainability. Artwork exploring the intersection of science and art will also be considered. Exhibition proposals should include the number of pieces, scale, and amount of space needed.
Award & Promotion
Selected artists receive a solo exhibition at CSU Spur with promotional materials. CSU Spur may choose to host an opening reception featuring artist talks and interactive programming.
