Studio H Canada is an artist-run residency founded in 2016 by artist Heidi Bergstrom (she/her), a Red River Métis citizen with Icelandic and Swedish settler ancestry. Her interdisciplinary practice spans visual arts, textiles, book arts, digital media, installation and collaborative research. Her experience as an artist, curator, facilitator and residency participant informs an approach centred on each artist’s interests and intentions. Mentoring may include discussing ideas, exploring materials or technical challenges, sharing tools and processes, offering feedback on work in progress, and considering how work connects with an audience. Artists retain direction of their residency. Studio H creates room for independent inquiry alongside conversation, mutual learning and creative exchange; public presentations and collaborative activities are discussed individually.
