Northwood Ravin, with the Decatur Arts Alliance, seeks qualifications from professional artists for a public art project of five exterior murals at Halo Decatur, a new mixed-use development in Decatur, GA. This is a two-phase selection process; this RFQ invites artists to submit qualifications only, and finalists will be invited to develop site-specific concepts in Phase Two.
Project Details
Northwood Ravin is partnering with Oakhurst Realty Partners to develop Halo Decatur, which features dynamic retailers including Galore Market and live-work units with dedicated street-level entrances. In collaboration with the Decatur Arts Alliance, Halo will host Canvas Artist Studios, offering resident artists free studio and gallery space. Community input will help select mural artists.
Mural Commissions
- Garage Mural: approx. 70 ft wide and 75 ft tall — $120,000 (paid in three installments: at project initiation, midway through installation, upon completion)
- Column Mural (3-sided): approx. 18 ft tall — $4,000 (paid upon completion)
- Courtyard Mural: approx. 70 ft wide and 20 ft tall — $28,000 (paid upon completion)
- Breezeway Mural #1: approx. 41 ft wide and 16 ft tall — $13,500 (paid upon completion)
- Breezeway Mural #2: approx. 32 ft wide and 15 ft tall — $13,000 (paid upon completion)
Eligibility
Decatur Arts Alliance invites submissions from artists eligible to work in the United States. Qualified applicants for the largest mural, Garage Mural, will have a proven body of large-scale mural installations. Local and regional artists will be prioritized for the smaller four murals.
Materials & Equipment Provided
Northwood Ravin will provide all paint and materials, forklifts and/or scaffolding, site access coordination, and protective coating application.
