About
Overview
Eight-week research and creation residency for visual artists in Terrasson-Lavilledieu, Dordogne. The residency runs autumn 2026 to autumn 2027, with two weeks dedicated to cultural actions. Themed on creating passage between the town's two geographically divided halves, separated by the Vézère river and a departmental road.
Residency focus
Artists are invited to work on the geographical, architectural, and sociological frontier between the upper town (historic, hillside) and lower town (modern, open to traffic). The work should reveal the permeability of this boundary through artistic research and public space experimentation, with particular attention to encounters with residents and community participation.
Residency structure
The 8-week stay is organized around three key moments: immersion, research and creation; public encounters and exchange; public presentation of residency research.
Housing and work conditions
The organization provides furnished housing during the residency, with water, electricity, and rental charges covered.
Residency support
The budget covers research, production and technical costs, copyright fees, travel and meal expenses for cultural actions and mediation, workshops, distribution, coordination, communication, and promotion.
Eligibility
Applicants must be professional visual artists and hold a B driver's license with access to a personal vehicle.
Application requirements
Submit a single PDF containing: one-page letter of intent, synthetic presentation of artistic approach and works with captioned visuals and CV, and completed information form. No preliminary project proposal is required as the residency is designed around the place and its resources. Artist duos and collectives may apply.
Selection process
Applications reviewed by a steering committee of representatives from Terrasson, the Agence culturelle départementale, and potentially DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Conseil départemental de la Dordogne, and Conseil régional Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Shortlisted candidates (2-3) proceed to interviews with the committee for final selection.
