Overview
Art & Soul is a celebration of Black art and music in Indianapolis. Each year, four Featured Artists are recognized for their exemplary contributions to the creative community. Since its inception in 1996, Art & Soul has supported over 60 Featured Artists.
Who Can Apply
Indianapolis-based, exceptionally talented artists and performers dedicated to their creative career whose work reflects and celebrates Black art and music.
What's Included
- Fall 2027 showcase event produced by Madam Walker Legacy Center (for performing artists)
- Visual arts exhibition opportunities (for visual artists)
- Art & Soul Sundays at the Indianapolis Artsgarden
- Community events in partnership with other local arts organizations
Compensation & Perks
- $5,000 to participate in showcases, exhibitions, preparation meetings, rehearsals, and marketing activities
- Additional compensation (typically around $2,500) for Art & Soul Sunday performance and other Art & Soul arts events
- Reimbursement for general liability insurance for 2027
- Increased visibility through Art & Soul brand advertising in digital and print media, TV, social media, and billboards
- Professional development through cohort workshops
- Connections with featured artists and local arts organizations
