Art & Soul is a celebration of Black art and music in Indianapolis. Each year, four Featured Artists are recognized for their exemplary contributions to the creative community. Since its inception in 1996, Art & Soul has supported over 60 Featured Artists.

Indianapolis-based, exceptionally talented artists and performers dedicated to their creative career whose work reflects and celebrates Black art and music.

  • Fall 2027 showcase event produced by Madam Walker Legacy Center (for performing artists)
  • Visual arts exhibition opportunities (for visual artists)
  • Art & Soul Sundays at the Indianapolis Artsgarden
  • Community events in partnership with other local arts organizations
  • $5,000 to participate in showcases, exhibitions, preparation meetings, rehearsals, and marketing activities
  • Additional compensation (typically around $2,500) for Art & Soul Sunday performance and other Art & Soul arts events
  • Reimbursement for general liability insurance for 2027
  • Increased visibility through Art & Soul brand advertising in digital and print media, TV, social media, and billboards
  • Professional development through cohort workshops
  • Connections with featured artists and local arts organizations
  • Submit interest form by September 6, 2026
  • Four artists selected in December 2026
  • Featured artists announced publicly in spring 2027
  • Programming runs throughout 2027
