Le 1% artistique et la commande publique – CIPAC

Overview

A training course on the 1% Artistic (1% artistique) and public art commissions in France, covering the regulatory framework, the commissioning process, and the management of artworks in public spaces.

Course Content

• The 1% Artistic system: regulation, relevant real estate operations, eligible artworks, call for proposals and implementation procedures, and tripartite relationships between client, artist, and architect.
• Other public artistic commissions: regulatory framework, commissioning process, and the role of the National Council for Artworks in Public Space.
• Additional aspects: public domain matters, intellectual property, responsibility for artworks, and conservation/restoration.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will understand the fundamental principles and stakes of the 1% Artistic and public commissions; understand the steps necessary for public art commissions; and anticipate risks that artworks face in public spaces.
