The call investigates urban space as a network of diverse relationships between human and non-human actors. Central questions concern coexistence and control: what is considered useful versus disruptive, who or what is allowed to remain and who is excluded, who is promoted and who is regulated, whether peaceful coexistence is possible, and how possible futures might be shaped. Potential perspectives include the presence of wildlife in cities and their appropriation of habitats, plants between use and ecological coexistence, constellations of animal, human, and machine, and the material and symbolic forms of urban exclusion (such as pigeons or particular human bodies).
Open to artists, designers, architects, performers, theorists, and interdisciplinary practitioners. Both individuals and collectives from Austria and abroad may apply. Both fully developed artistic positions and experimental, process-based, or collaborative approaches are welcome.
