About Kunsthalle Wien

Kunsthalle Wien is the City of Vienna's primary institution for contemporary art. At its locations in the MuseumsQuartier and on Karlsplatz, Kunsthalle Wien presents an annual programme of exhibitions and produces public and educational programming. The institution provides a platform for artists, commissioning new works and partnering with individuals and institutions to develop exhibitions and publications based on original research.

Current Exhibition

Lebt und arbeitet in Wien: Contemporary Art from Vienna is the most extensive survey of the Viennese contemporary art scene organised by Kunsthalle Wien in over a decade, bringing together over 130 artworks by 56 artists who live and work in Vienna. The exhibition spans all spaces in the MuseumsQuartier and Karlsplatz and presents painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, photography, performance, sound, film and video.

Kunsthalle Wien Atelier

The Atelier is a space for dialogue, creativity and exchange. Workshops for children and families take place every Saturday and during school holidays. Regular workshops with various artists are held for adults. The Atelier provides a space for working with educational institutions, community organisations and initiatives.
