Klub Solitaer invites scenographers, stage designers, interior architects, mediators, and artists to design a temporary arrival hall in the Glaskasten gallery on Chemnitz's Sonnenberg. The project responds to a bus stop outside the venue and investigates how cultural spaces can become more welcoming and accessible to diverse people arriving in the neighborhood.

  • Submission deadline: Sunday, August 23, 2026, 23:59
  • Onsite research and concept development: Until September 20, 2026
  • Setup begins: October 7, 2026
  • Opening: October 19, 2026
  • Exhibition runs: October 19 – November 1, 2026

Transform the Glaskasten gallery into an open, welcoming, and flexibly usable space that enables gathering and encounter. The design must be responsive to the site and neighborhood, accessible to diverse people, and create a framework for workshops, conversations, performances, music, culinary interventions, and community formats during the exhibition period.

Three finalists selected by a local advisory board will be invited to Chemnitz for research and concept development. Each develops a spatial design proposal by September 20, 2026. All three receive 750 EUR (brutto) for onsite research. One concept is selected for implementation and receives an additional 2,100 EUR (brutto).

Open to all. No geographical restrictions.
