Columbia Institute for Ideas and Imagination: Paris Fellowship 2027–2028 in Paris, France – Open Call

Overview

A prestigious interdisciplinary fellowship program hosted by Columbia University in Paris that brings together researchers, artists, and writers for advanced creative work and intellectual exchange. Fellows have their own office at the Institute, administrative and research support, and access to Columbia's libraries and research facilities in Paris and Europe.

Fellowship Details

The Institute brings together a cohort of up to 15 Fellows each year: half from Columbia faculty and post-docs, the other half artists and writers from around the world.

Award

• $75,000 fellowship stipend for a full academic year (September 2027 through May 2028)

• Administrative and research support
• Access to Columbia's libraries and research facilities in Paris and Europe

Eligibility

• Columbia tenured and tenure-track faculty from Columbia University, Barnard, or Teacher's College
• Adjunct professors and lecturers only if appointment extends beyond the fellowship year
• Columbia postdoctoral researchers with PhD completed between September 2024 and December 31, 2026
• Creative artists, visual and sound artists, filmmakers, composers, and writers not permanently residing in the US
• Applications must be in English

Special Notes

Columbia faculty should notify their department chairs or Dean of their intention to apply. The Institute staff can direct applicants to discuss financial implications of an award. Only faculty are eligible to apply for a single semester fellowship. Groups cannot be accommodated.
