Overview
StartArt Residency is an affordable, all-inclusive creative residency in Northern Portugal, open to artists, writers, photographers, musicians, designers, and multidisciplinary creatives at every stage of their journey. Stay from one week to one month, focus on your work, explore new ideas, and connect with an inspiring international community of participants from more than 60 countries.
What's Included
Your stay includes accommodation, three vegetarian meals per day, creative workspaces, workshops, nature activities, community evenings, and time to swim and relax beside the Homem River.
Duration & Schedule
- 7 days minimum (can be extended up to 28 days / 4 weeks)
- Open every Monday from August to November
- Includes 4 community connection activities during the week
Accommodation Options
- €420 per week — Shared bunk-bed accommodation
- €560 per week — Private room with shared bathroom
- €700 per week — Private room with private bathroom, balcony, and river view
Studio & Workspace
Residents have access to shared indoor studios, flexible creative rooms, and open-air workspaces throughout the property. Spaces can be adapted for painting, drawing, writing, photography, design, and multidisciplinary projects. Artists may also work in the gardens, on the riverside deck, or in natural spaces overlooking the Homem River.
Disciplines Welcome
The residency welcomes artists, writers, photographers, filmmakers, musicians, designers, and multidisciplinary creatives. Basic equipment and practical assistance are available; residents are encouraged to contact the residency in advance regarding any specific technical or material requirements.
