In Contrast 2026

Overview

In Contrast 2026 invites artists working in all mediums to submit works that harness contrast as a powerful tool of artistic expression. This blind juried exhibition explores contrast in its many forms: color, light, texture, subject, and concept. Selected works will be exhibited in MFA's Virtual Gallery.

Key Dates

• August 25: Online entry opens
• October 21: Entry deadline at 11:59 PM
• November 19: Notification at 5 PM
• December 15: Exhibition opens
• January 7, 2027: Awards announced at 5 PM
• February 14, 2027: Last day of exhibition

Eligibility

Entry is open to all artists internationally, with exception of artists from sanctioned countries. Any original 2D or 3D work that follows exhibition guidelines will be considered.

What to Submit

• Maximum 6 original works created within the past 3 years per artist
• All work must be original and completed solely by the artist's hand
• Work previously exhibited at MFA in Virtual Gallery within the last three years is not eligible
• File size no more than 10 MB
• For video submissions: provide link in Linked Web Resource field and upload a still frame; deliver video file on thumb drive if accepted

Entry Requirements & Fees

All work must be uploaded through artcall.org. You will need an artcall.org account with email and password. There is no charge to create an artcall.org account. Non-member entrants with a discrepancy between entry fee paid and membership status must pay the difference before display date or work will not be shown to juror.

Sales & Commission

• Artists retain 80% from sales (85% for MFA Members)
• MFA retains 20% commission (15% for MFA Members) on work sold through MFA
• Artists are requested to donate 20% from sales made through direct referral from MFA within three months
• All sales tax processing handled by MFA; artists responsible for fulfillment

Juror

Sena Clara Creston is an interactive installation artist and Associate Professor of Media Arts at Sonoma State University. Her work focuses on the impact of light, movement, and material, and reflects our relationship with the natural in an increasingly mediated world. She has presented work internationally at venues including IEEE, Borealis, LoFi, TEDx, Treefort, The Wassaic Project, CICA Museum, Triton Museum of Art, Museum of Sonoma County, and Jundt Art Museum.

Exhibition Guidelines

Work delivered must correspond with images submitted to the juror. Images of accepted works may be used by MFA for promotional purposes including invitation, catalog, website, social media, or subsequent year's prospectus, with attribution included wherever possible. Work cannot be withdrawn before the end of the exhibition. MFA may determine work ineligible if entry guidelines are not followed.
